So there are those out there who thrive on living through the life of someone with a crap ton of kids. My story is something that is not well published nor is it videoed every day. My story is that of a blended family.

I have lived a life that most would call boring. Standard of living in the 90s and so on. It wasn’t until my adult years really kicked off that I found myself living a more unexpected life. Today I am one of the matriarchs of a blended family of 10 kids. Between myself and 2 other women, we have 10 children. What do we have in common? That would be my fiance. My ole man has no pull out game to say the least. So here we sit with 10 kids.

Now, the kids all range in age from 13 all the way down to 1 year old twins.

How does it work?

Very simply actually. Me and the other 2 matriarchs are actually quite good friends. We all have come together to get to know each other and learn what we expect with our children. I listen to them as well as they listen to me. We understand that our dynamic above all is for the benefit of our kids.

Now this has led to a fuller life that I could not be more grateful for. I often tell people that I don’t have step children because I truly do not feel like they are. I have kids that were born before I got to meet them and I love them just as much as I love the ones that I birthed.

See, the secrets to blended family? Understanding that with the spouse or partner, comes their child/ren. Once you accept those tiny little adults with temper issues for who they are, the rest is cake.

Getting to know my kids over the course of this relationship has been a wonder that I will cherish for as long as I am alive. Each child has such a bright and unique aspect of who they are that brings more wonder to my life every day. We have sassy teenager who is our artist of the group. We have 2 preteens who love the outdoors and encourage us all to get up and move.

Each one of us brings something that is our own. We see and accept each other as we are and encourage the growth of everyone.

For now I’m going to wrap this up here. There will be more but you know what ya gotta do :)

May the days be bright and full of joy.
